Getting into email marketing is not one of the easiest things to do. It sounds like it would be relatively easy to simply get a big number of email addresses and send them tracked ads about your company or product.
If you want to learn what you can do to grow your email marketing list and optimize your results, then just keep on reading.
The most important thing you need to realize when handling an email list, is that your emails with regards to content need to be compelling. In essence, you only have a few seconds to appeal to the recipients of your email before they close it and never open another one of your emails again. If in the first four seconds you haven’t grabbed your prospect’s attention, then they’ll just close your email, delete it and probably never open anything from you again.
So, in order to avoid shooting yourself in the foot and making unnecessary mistakes just make sure that there is something in that email that will grab your reader’s attention, so that they get sucked into it and give it more than a couple seconds of their time. But you will need to give people a reason to sign up for your email list in the first place. In today’s world everybody is swamped with emails that they feel are irrelevant or unnecessary so, it’s come to a point where people are being very selective with where they sign up to.
To help convince your prospects, you can tell them that you have an offer with an exclusive freebie just for them or give a discount to the people that buy from you. These offers can be enough to really get people interested in subscribing to your emails. Once people opt in, they generally will not opt out for a while, so now you have some eyes that will definitely look at your future offers. Another important thing that will probably come as a surprise, is that you need to make sure people have a pretty easy way to opt out of your mailing list. You do not want to frustrate your customer because it is like you are taking away their right to choose.
Sometimes people will unsubscribe even though they still like shopping from you, they just do not think the emails are particularly useful to them. With that in mind, if you make things too hard on them when they try to opt out, it will strain any relationship you have with them. Remember, it should be up to the recipient if they want to be a part of this mailing list or not – not you. Last but not least, treat the people on your list with as much respect as you can. For example, send emails only every so often. Sending an email a few times a day reminding the recipient of offers will just annoy them and they will look for a way to opt out as fast as possible.
You also want to send emails at regular times of the day; people don’t like when their phone vibrates at two in the morning because they just received an email from some company. You know, keep it reasonable.
These suggestions may not sound like much of an epiphany, but it can really make all the difference. Email marketing, when done right, is one of the most profitable ways to market your product. Let us know in the comments below how these tips worked for you or if you have any more tips to share!
